“I don't just build interfaces. I build systems.”

From enterprise information systems to digital payment infrastructure.

I started inside a commercial bank, on the operational side of enterprise IT: supporting the people, the infrastructure and the day-to-day reality of technology that a financial institution depends on. That is where I learned that a system is only as good as its worst morning.

At the Ministry of Higher Education I moved from supporting systems to building them. Enterprise information systems for a national institution — HR records, scholarship processing, inventory, foreign document verification and student evaluation. Each one carried real institutional consequences, which is a very effective teacher of data modelling and workflow design.

Today I lead software development at APS / Da Afghanistan Bank, working across fintech and digital payment infrastructure: interoperable QR payments, EMI and wallet integrations, USSD and SMS channels, transaction processing and the integrations that connect financial institutions to each other.

The constant across all three chapters is the same: understand the process, model the data honestly, design the interfaces carefully, and build something that still works when the load, the team and the requirements grow.

Start with how the work happens today: the actors, the decisions, the exceptions and where it breaks.
02Model the data and the contracts
Define the records of truth and the interfaces around them before committing to any interface.
03Build in vertical slices
Ship a thin path that runs end to end — data, service, integration and screen — then widen it.
04Harden and integrate
Failure paths, security, audit, reconciliation and the operational tools that keep it running.
05Hand over
Documented decisions, readable structure and a codebase the next team can own without a translator.

Working principles

Interfaces are designed as products for the next team.
Failure paths get the same attention as the happy path.
Anything financial must be reconcilable, not just successful.
Documentation is part of delivery, not an optional extra.
